The photovoltaic power generation system comprises a weather-state evaluating means for evaluating whether the weather is cloudy or clear, and a means for changing the output activating point of solar cell strings, and is also provided with a control unit (7) that detects that a solar cell (1) is malfunctioning, when the weather is evaluated as being cloudy, and discontinuity in the differential characteristics of the output powers or output currents of the solar cells (1) appears when the activating point thereof is changed.
