<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-core fiber capable of reducing crosstalk between cores. <P>SOLUTION: The multi-core fiber 1 includes a plurality of core elements 10 and a cladding 20 surrounding the outer peripheral surfaces of the core elements 10; each core element 10 has a core 11, a first cladding 12 surrounding the outer peripheral surface of the core 11, and a second cladding 13 surrounding the outer peripheral surface of the first cladding 12; and the multi-core fiber satisfies all of formulas n<SB POS="POST">1</SB>>n<SB POS="POST">2</SB>>n<SB POS="POST">3</SB>, n<SB POS="POST">1</SB>>n<SB POS="POST">4</SB>, and n<SB POS="POST">3</SB><n<SB POS="POST">4</SB>, wherein: n<SB POS="POST">1</SB>is a refraction factor of the core 11; n<SB POS="POST">2</SB>is a refraction factor of the first cladding 12; n<SB POS="POST">3</SB>is a refraction factor of the second cladding 13; and n<SB POS="POST">4</SB>is a refraction factor of the cladding 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
