<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high safety lead acid storage battery which, when a trouble such as ignition occurs internally, prevents breakage which might adversely affect the periphery and also makes the battery not reusable by the user to prevent what could result in a more serious situation. <P>SOLUTION: The lead acid storage battery has an electrode plate group of cathodes and anodes, opposed to each other via a separator, accommodated in each cell chamber of a battery container which is divided into plural cell chambers by a partition and has an opening, the opening and a lid of the battery container being joined so as to permit a mechanical shock dispersion member to be disposed at the top of the electrode plate group. A cubic volume V1 of a space between an inside top face of the lid and the mechanical shock dispersion member is made to be smaller than a cubic volume V2 of a space between the mechanical shock dispersion member and the electrode plate group. A wall thickness α of the partition is made to be 1.2-2.0 mm. A ratio β/α of a wall thickness β of the outer wall of the battery container to the wall thickness α of the partition with respect is made to be 2.5-3.5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
