<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine that can more efficiently eliminate sulfur poisoning of a catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: When a catalyst floor temperature doesn't reach a temperature T2 that is the lowest temperature in a releasable temperature area where a sulfur poisoning a catalyst noble metal is oxidized under a lean air-fuel (S202:YES), the exhaust purification apparatus increases the temperature of the catalyst floor temperature by heating a chemical heat storage material (S204-S206) and executes an air-fuel ratio lean control by fuel cutting (S207) so that the catalyst floor temperature is made to be equal to or exceed the temperature T2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
