A silver electrode for an alkaline accumulator is made by subjecting powdered silver to heat to cause the particles to agglomerate, then comminuting the mass and compressing the powder so formed. The heat treatment may be carried out at a temperature slightly below the sintering temperature. The compressed mass forms the electrode which may be subjected to a final sintering operation. The positive electrode of a battery may comprise a number of plates made as above together with others that have not been subjected to the preliminary heat treatment. |
