The awning (1) has a rotatably mounted cloth shaft for winding a cloth (3). The cloth has a front end at a driving profile (4) supported by articulated arms. The profile is vertically supported by support posts (5) when completely driving the awning. The posts have lighting devices for lighting of spaces i.e. front terrace regions, below the awning and/or an environment. Illumination units i.e. LEDs, are arranged at the posts and/or integrated into the posts. Electrical supply conduits and/or switching arrangements for operation of the lighting devices are integrated into the posts.
