The method involves detecting the points of time of pre-run of radial mark (3) of rotary element (1) at different positions (P1-P3), as phase angles of rotary element where the positions are defined by the coordinates regarding original position of rotational axis (2). The displacements of detected phase angles relative to the phase angles detected with original position of rotary element in the rotational plane, are determined. The position change of the rotational axis is determined based on the phase angle displacements and coordinates of three different positions.
