<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact joint for a manipulator, which is easily assembled, whose cost is reduced, and which can carry out highly accurate manipulator operation. <P>SOLUTION: The joint for the manipulator includes a joint shaft disposed at the end of a base arm, a unit attaching hole formed at the end of a turning arm, and a bearing unit having a housing fitted in the unit attaching hole and a roller bearing disposed inside the housing to rotatably support the turning arm with respect to the joint shaft. Further, a locking member having a tapered longitudinal section in a longitudinal direction generates a wedging action to fix the turning arm and the housing so as not to be relatively rotated.
