A fluid delivery device (10) includes a compressible sleeve (12) configured to hold a fluid- holding container (14) such as an ampoule or capsule. The sleeve is compressible so as to be able to shatter the container under user-applied force to release the contents of the container for application to a desired location. The sleeve is constructed from at least two independent and separate walls (30,32). The independence of the walls improves the resistance of the sleeve to accidental puncturing by the frangible container while not significantly impacting the force required to shatter the container.
