<p>A receiver (100) includes a channel equalizer (120), a demodulator (130) with a first operating mode and a second operating mode, and a channel estimator (150) in order to receive an input signal that includes a modulated signal and a known sequence. The channel equalizer (120) is configured so as to carry out an equalization of the input signal on the basis of the equalizing characteristics. The demodulator (130) is equipped so that, when in the first operating mode, it can modulate the input signal using a signal space constellation with signal space points, and when in the second operating mode it can demodulate the input signal by using a signal space constellation with a first subset of the signal space points. The channel estimator (150) is configured to set up the equalizing characteristics of the channel equalizer (120) on the basis of the detected, known sequence. When doing so, the known sequence is modulated independently from the selected operating mode by using a signal space constellation with a second subset of the signal space points.</p> |
