<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus of cleaning contaminated soil, by removing volatile contaminants contained in contaminated soil without changing the property of soil. <P>SOLUTION: A gas supplied by a compressor 8 is heated by a heater 5, and the heated gas is sent into a sealed container 2 via a first opening 31 of a first pipe 3. The gas in the sealed container 2 is sucked therefrom via a second opening 41 of a second pipe 4 by a pump 9. The heated gas passes through contaminated soil S, and is sucked via the second pipe 4. When the heated gas passes through the contaminated soil S, volatile contaminants contained therein evaporate and are sucked via the second pipe 4 together with the heated gas, and thus the volatile contaminants are removed from the contaminated soil S.
