METHOD FOR CHARGING EXTERNAL DEVICE AND DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for charging an external device, capable of solving the problem of waste power consumption, and a display device using the same.

SOLUTION: The display device which charges an external device connected through an USB relating to one embodiment of this invention capable of charging the external device by supplying power only to the external device without supplying the power to the display device even when the display device is in a standby state includes: an external device connection confirmation unit for confirming whether or not the external device connected through a data line of the USB is a chargeable device; a power supply unit of the display device for outputting standby power or main power; a control unit for controlling the power supply unit so that the power supply unit outputs the standby power or the main power corresponding to whether or not the display device is in a standby mode; and a power output unit for outputting the standby power or the main power outputted from the power supply unit to the external device.
