The purpose of the present invention is to provide, for a secondary battery, a nonaqueous electrolyte having CHF2CF2CH2OCF2CFHCF3as a principal component such that superior cycle characteristics can be obtained in a secondary battery having a negative electrode formed from a carbon material, and to provide a secondary battery having that nonaqueous electrolyte for a secondary battery. The electrolyte for a secondary battery contains a lithium salt, a specific amount of CHF2CF2CH2OCF2CFHCF3, and a specific amount of a film forming agent that can form a coating film on the negative electrode surface, which is formed from a carbon material. In addition, the secondary battery having the nonaqueous electrolyte for a secondary battery has a positive electrode formed from a material that can store and release lithium ions and a negative electrode formed from a carbon material that can store and release lithium ions. |
