The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method and device for culturing photosynthetic microorganisms using an upright transparent water tank that simply prevents the entry and breeding of microfauna such as Daphnia and Rotifera that prey on photosynthetic microorganisms, and enables the healthy growth of photosynthetic microorganisms. The method and device for growing photosynthetic microorganisms uses culturing device provided with: a transparent water tank which is formed from a transparent material, and which is for irradiating a photosynthetic microorganism suspension with sunlight and culturing photosynthetic microorganisms; and a floating lid disposed in the transparent water tank. The method and device for growing photosynthetic microorganisms are characterised by suppressing the growth of photosynthetic microorganism-predatory microfauna such as Daphnia and Rotifera in anaerobic conditions and culturing photosynthetic microorganisms by (A) the photosynthetic microorganism suspension being introduced above the floating lid and irradiated with light when in bright conditions, and (B) not allowing the photosynthetic microorganism suspension above the floating lid when in dark conditions. |
