In making a crown for a tooth stump 1 a shell is cast which has a double wall 2, 3, at the lingual side, with an intervening space 5 into which the porcelain or other coating material 9, for the labial face, extends. Protrusions 7 may be formed on the front of the cap 2 to assist adhesion of the porcelain. Suitably shaped shells, made from wax, are set up on a model of the stump and employed in making a plastic cast of the crown. The final crown hood is then cast in metal and the coating 9 is applied. |
