<p>A rubber composition containing a dispersion of organic fibers and a tire comprising this rubber composition is disclosed. The composition comprises, based on parts by weight per 100 parts by weight rubber (phr):
(A) 100 phr of conjugated diene-based elastomers comprising:
(1) from 0 to 95 phr of at least one of polymers and copolymers of isoprene and 1,3-butadiene and copolymers of styrene with at least one of isoprene and 1,3-butadiene as non-functionalized elastomers, and
(2) from 5 to 100 phr of functionalized sulfur curable elastomer as a compatiblizer for organic fibers within the rubber composition;
(B) 30 to 100 phr of particulate reinforcement comprising:
(1) a carbon black, or
(2) a silica, or
(3) a combination of a carbon black and a silica containing up to 80 phr of the silica together with a silica coupler for the silica;
(C) 0.5 to 30 phr of organic fibers, wherein the organic fibers comprise at least one of aramid fibers, polyester fibers, nylon fibers and rayon fibers.</p> |
