<p>A quick-release locking connector comprises first and second connector parts 102, 104 configured to releasably engage with one another along a longitudinal axis of the connector. The first connector part 102 has a plurality of circumferentially disposed resiliently bendable latching fingers 124, each having an ear 126 at one end which engages and latches with a groove 130 in a body 132 of the second connector part 104, thereby locking the connector parts together. A disengaging sleeve 108, located around the connector, is movable along the longitudinal connector axis and is biased in a mating direction 116 of the connector parts 102, 104. The sleeve 108 has an internal camming surface 122 which, upon movement of the sleeve 108 against the mating direction 116, engages a camming surface 134 of the ear 126 thereby pulling the ear 126 from the groove 130 for each finger 124. The interior surface of a ring portion 112 of the sleeve 108 includes a set of longitudinal extending ribs 150 with one rib 150 per finger 124. The ring portion 112 is rotatable about the connector axis so that the ribs 150 either inhibit or allow the fingers 124 to move radially outwards upon axial movement of the sleeve 108.</p> |
