<p>It is intended to provide a low cost method, whereby waste water is treated in a manner fitting for organic matters contained therein by taking the advantage of an electrochemical treatment method, and an apparatus therefor. First, untreated waste water (1) is introduced into a biological treatment step (a biological treatment device) (2) wherein highly biologically degradable matters are separated and removed to give biologically treated water (3) containing a large amount of hardly biologically degradable matters. Next, this biologically treated water (3) is introduced into an electrolysis step (an electrolysis tank) (4) wherein the hardly biologically degradable matters are degraded into highly biologically degradable matters such as VFA, carbon dioxide, water, etc. and the water is discharged as electrolyzed water (5). A portion of this electrolyzed water (5) is returned into the biological treatment step (the biological treatment device) (2) as returned electrolyzed water (6) and the highly biologically degradable matters contained in the returned electrolyzed water (6) are biologically treated.</p> |
