A double-pole, double-break, snap-acting retractive switch comprises a push-button 3 provided with notches into which the stems of Y-shaped moving contact bridges 2a and 2b are urged by a spring yoke 1 which thus provides an over-centre snap-action between respective pairs of fixed contacts 7a ... 10a and 7b . . . 10b. A spring 5 provides retraction of button 3. The notches in button 3 are made wide enough (Fig. 6, not shown) to permit transverse swinging of the bridges 2a and 2b for self-alignment with the fixed contacts, and the yoke 1 engages the bridges by means of small insulating blocks which have angled reception notches (Fig. 5, not shown) to permit such alignment. The yoke 1 may be made of wire (as shown) or may be cut out of resilient sheet material (Fig. 7, not shown) and may have a serpentine configuration (Fig. 8, not shown).</p> |
