An apparatus is provided comprising a base 410, a seat 202, a torso rest 220, and leg supports 214, 216 for the right and left legs, respectively, of a patient placed on the therapy apparatus. The seat, torso rest, and leg supports may be connected to the base by a seat mechanism 302, torso mechanism 303 and leg mechanisms 310, respectively. The seat mechanism, torso mechanism and leg mechanisms may be movable in a simultaneous and/or coordinated manner and in use, the apparatus transfers a patient placed on the apparatus from a seated position to a prone position. In a preferred embodiment, the leg supports and respective mechanisms are located between the seat and torso rest. A method of transferring a patient from a prone position to a seated position, and vice versa, using the apparatus provided is also disclosed. |
