A grill configured to cook food placed above it. The grill comprising a base (12) having an interior and containing a support (24-28) for the food being cooked and gas jets (30) for burning gas and generating heat to cook the food. The gas jets are directed downwards towards the interior (14) of the base, thereby heating a bed of heat absorbent inert material (32). This material (32) is heated by the gas jets (30) and then radiates heat upwardly in the direction (22) towards the support (24-28). |
