A buckle for a safety belt comprises a male element 4 and a female element 3 provided with interengaging means, raised edges on the female element between which the male element is adapted to be located in the interengaged position, a slide 1 adapted to slide on the said raised edges and to embrace the said male and female elements when they are in engagement to maintain them in position, the said slide being held in the fastening position by a tension spring. The slide is either in the form of an open ended box or it has flanged sides. The interengaging means consist of a downturned tongue 6 at one extremity of the male element and a slot 7 in the female element which is engaged by the tongue. |
