The percentage of lead compound present is between 6 and 20% and preferably 10% of the weight of the electrode. Lead oxide, PbO, is specified as the lead compound. A mixture of silver (particle size 2 to 9 microns) and lead oxide (particle size 1 to 2 microns) is pressed to form a plate and then sintered. A silver connecting tab completes the electrode. The cadmium electrode consists of a powder of CdO, silver and a binder, e.g. polyvinyl alcohol, pressed on to an expanded silver grid. |
