FIELD: chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: method of converting alcohol containing an amide group into the corresponding carboxylic acid involves reaction of a primary amide alcohol of formula: R1-CONR2(CH2)mOH, where R1 is a linear or branched alkyl or alkenyl group, having 7-22 carbon atoms; R2 is H, an alkyl or hydroxyalkyl group with 1-6 carbon atoms; and m is an integer from 1 to 6, with an oxidant in the presence of a sterically hindered radical group and a co-catalyst, where the solvent is only water, and in the presence of an oxidant, the primary amide alcohol remains in the solid organic phase while the oxidant is distributed mainly into a liquid phase, wherein a base is further added to the reaction mixture. ^ EFFECT: improved method. ^ 10 cl, 12 dwg, 11 ex |
