A structural panel comprises two or more dimpled sheets 2, 4 secured together in such a way as to provide between the dimples 6 of the sheets two series 8-8, 10-10 of open parallel ducts or passageways extending across the panel at right angles to each other, the panel including within it one or more electric resistance elements arranged to enable the panel to serve as a space heater. The sheets may be of thermoplastic material and the resistance element may be a coating on the walls of the ducts or may be an insulated wire or a bare wire which may be moulded into one of the sheets. Alternatively a heating element of graphite or other resistance material moulded in a fibre sheet may be incorporated in the panel and may be protected by a sheet of insulating material or backed by a reflecting foil. As shown, a wire 12 arranged in the ducts is connected to terminals 14 at opposite ends of the panel. The panel may be used in the construction of ceilings, floors, walls, wardrobes and other household furniture, or in the clinical field, and may include discharge lamps in addition to the heating resistance.
