PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to increase opening ratio and to manufacture a semi-permeable LCD device by having regular cell gap. CONSTITUTION: A first substrate(11) includes a TFT and a pixel electrode which is connected to the TFT. A second substrate(12) includes a common electrode and a color filter. A liquid crystal layer(50) is formed between the first substrate and the second substrate. A first polarizing substrate(71) is arranged to one side of the first substrate.
