A drainage foil for papermaking installations has a supporting bar and ceramic plates fastened to it. The supporting bar has on its side facing the plates an undercut groove extending over the length of the plates. The plates have on their side facing the supporting bar a retaining bar of approximately mirror-inverted construction relative to the undercut groove of the supporting bar, that extends in the direction of the supporting bar. The retaining bar can be clamped in the undercut groove which is formed by a bar on the supporting bar and a fastening bar forming a component of the supporting bar. The fastening bar can be clamped together with the retaining bar and the supporting bar by a bolt passing through the supporting bar. The supporting bar has a further groove into which a clamping bar projecting from the fastening bar can be inserted. This arrangement provides improved support for the ceramic plates.
