It is herein described the identification and characterization of a new strain of cyanobacterium belonging to the family Pseudanabaenaceae (Oscillatoriales, Cyanophyta), genus Protolyngbya, designated strain ITD-01, found on the surface of the Ischia thermal muds. This cyanobacterium is found to be particularly rich in C-phycocyanin. |
