A backlight unit and an LCD having the same are provided to suppress spot phenomenon and patch phenomenon generated during emission of LEDs(Light Emitting Diodes), by adding an optical plate between a light guiding plate and a diffusive plate. A backlight unit comprises a lower cover(140), an LED array disposed above the lower cover, a light guiding plate(130) disposed above the LED array, and an optical plate(149) disposed above the light guiding plate. The LED array is composed of a plurality of LEDs(120). A diffusive plate and an optical sheet are disposed above the optical plate. The optical plate is formed by using a PMMA(PolyMethyl MethAcrylate)-based material or a PC(PolyCarbonate)-based material. |
