摘要 In a method for the explosive deformation of material having a cubically face centred lattice and a texture, the shock wave of the explosion is directed conformally to the <110> direction of the crystals. In examples the materials used are, e.g., brass having 70% copper and 30% zinc or austenitic stainless steel containing 18% chrome and more than 8% nickel which are cold rolled to obtain reductions of 50%, or 50-70% and over 70% (brass only) followed by heat treatment to bring them into an anisotropic state having a texture of {110} <112> prior to the explosive deformation which does not produce mechanical twins in the material. An iron-nickel alloy containing over 30% nickel, reduced by rolling from 50-80% and heat treated at 600-900 DEG C. for 15-30 minutes to obtain a texture of {358} <523> may also be used. Alternatively the required texture may be obtained by forging to obtain a reduction in excess of 50%. Sheet material may be continuously cast and subsequently forged. After being cold reduced 50-70% the brass is heat treated at 200 DEG C. for 15-30 minutes and after a reduction in excess of 70% is heated at 900 DEG C. to produce secondary recrystallization. The stainless steel is heated to 400-600 DEG C. after the 50-70% cold reduction.
