The invention comprises condensation products of 1 part by weight of sucroglyceride with at least 3 parts of ethylene oxide in the presence of about 0.05 parts of a glyceride, said products having a cloud point in aqueous solution of at least 100 DEG C. These products may be prepared by heating in an autoclave 1 part of the sucroglyceride with at least 3 parts of ethylene oxide to 70 DEG to 130 DEG C. in the presence of about 0.05 parts of a glyceride and an alkali metal hydroxide as catalyst. Sucroglycerides are prepared by the transesterification of natural or synthetic triglycerides with sucrose in a solvent in the presence of an alkaline catalyst. In the examples lard- and coconut oil-sucroglycerides are condensed with ethylene oxide in the presence of tallow and palmist oil respectively. The products of the invention have surfactant detergent and emulsifying properties.
