PURPOSE: A high pressure fuel pump for a GDI(Gasoline Direct Injection) engine and a method for controlling a solenoid valve for a high pressure fluid pump are provided to reduce impact when a solenoid valve is closed. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling a solenoid valve for a GDI engine is as follows. Peak current for closing a solenoid valve is supplied during the time of supplying set peak current(S10). After the time of supplying the set peak current, hold current is supplied while set hold current is supplied(S20).
