The device (1) has a container (2) elongated along a rectilinear longitudinal axis (X). A spherical weight (15) e.g. metal ball, having a large S-cross section is movable in the container along the axis over an axial course (d) between two end positions, where the weight is in contact with abutment surfaces. The weight sweeps a volume equal to or higher than 0.5 times the inner volume of the container defined along the axis on the axial course during movement of the weight on the axial course. An independent claim is also included for a method for dispensing a quantity of a fluid compound from a container.
