PURPOSE: A method for preparing tetrahydroquinoline compounds is provided to effectively produce optically active material with high optical purity. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing tetrahydroquinoline compounds comprises: a step of mixing ortho-diakylamino cinnamic compounds and a solvent(S1); a step of reacting the mixture under the presence of chiral catalyst and acid additive(S2); and a step of extracting a reactant and concentrating(S3). The content of the chiral catalyst or acid additive is 5-30 mole%. The solvent includes TCE, DCE, or MeCN. The acid addition is F3CCO2H, HCl, TFA, 2,4-dinitro benzene sulfonic acid(DNBS), camphorsulfonic acid((+)-CSA,(-)-CSA), HBr, triflluoromethane sulfonic acid(TfOH), maleic acid or HPF6.
