The invention relates to the use of a cosmetic composition for increasing the reflective power of hair, said cosmetic composition comprising a magnolia leaf extract as active ingredient, having a lipid compound content of between 5 wt. % and 100 wt. % of the total weight of the extract. The lipid compounds can be obtained by extraction from magnolia leaves using a lipophilic solvent or supercritical CO2.
