The method involves choosing a form of a positioning contour i.e. positioning ring (100), for a marker in a quadratic family, and choosing one of encoding type capable of encoding digital data in a deterministic manner. The digital data intended to be contained by the marker is encoded. A set of bits of digital data redundancy is encoded to secure encoded digital data (120). The data and the coded digital data redundancy bits are placed around or within the positioning contour.
