Provided is a process for manufacturing a chemically strengthened glass, said process achieving an increase in the compressive stress at the surface of the glass. A process for manufacturing a chemically strengthened glass, characterized by keeping a glass for 30 minutes or more at a temperature ranging from the strain point minus 40°C to the strain point plus 70°C to conduct the heat treatment of the glass, and thereafter, without allowing the temperature of the glass to exceed the strain point plus 70°C, immersing the glass in a molten salt to conduct the ion exchange of the glass.
