<p>Provided are an asymmetric gas separating membrane configured from an aromatic polyimide containing repeating units primarily having ether bonds and heat-treated at a temperature near the softening point (TS) of the aromatic polyimide, and a method using same for separating methanol from a methanol-containing mixed organic vapor by passing the methanol selectively through the asymmetric gas separating membrane.</p>
