The apparatus has a heat carrier fluid heating channel (11) which is integrable in an exhaust gas passage in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine. A thermoelectric module (19) has a hot side (20) that contacts with a heat source, and a cold side (22) that contacts heat sink. The hot side of the thermoelectric module covers the apertures that are formed in outer wall of heating channel.
