<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display unit having high luminance and quality. <P>SOLUTION: A light source unit 11 includes a plurality of light emitting elements 11B, 11R, 11G for emitting illumination light beams B, R, G, respectively. A composition unit 12 combines the plurality of illumination light beams B, R, G. The illumination light beams B, R, G combined by the composition unit 12 are projected onto a display panel 14. The light source unit 11 includes the first light emitting elements 11B for emitting the first light beams B having a first color, the second light emitting elements 11R for emitting the second light beams R having a second color, and the third light emitting elements 11G for emitting the third illumination light beams G having a third color, the third light emitting elements 11G having higher luminance than the first and second light emitting elements, 11B and 11R.
