<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new copolymerized aromatic polyester which has both excellent hydrolysis resistance and film formability, and to provide a biaxially oriented polyester film using the copolymerized aromatic polyester. <P>SOLUTION: In the copolymerized aromatic polyester, the main aromatic dicarboxylic acid component is composed of a 4,4'-diphenyl carboxylic acid component and a 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid component, and the molar ratio of the both is within the range of (5:95) to (60:40). Then, the main glycol component is composed of an ethylene glycol component and a tetramethylene glycol component, and the molar ratio of the both is within the range of (5:95) to (60:40).
