<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glucoraphanin-rich radish plant with a cancer suppressing effect at a low cost without requiring a chemical treatment or transgenic treatment for radish which is a plant highly valuable as a foodstuff. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing a radish line containing a large amount of glucoraphanin in seeds, sprouts, and seedlings includes selecting radish individuals in which a content of glucoerucin in a plant is at least 10 μmol/g (on a dry basis) and in which a content of 4-methylthio-3-butenyl glucosinolate is one fifth or less of the content of glucoerucin, and subjecting the selected radish individuals to inbreeding at least once, thereby to select a radish line in which a content of glucoraphanin in the sprout is at least 5 μmol/g (on a dry basis). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
