<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an isobutylene-based block copolymer composed of polyisobutylene-based polymer blocks (a) and poly(α-methylstyrene)-, poly(p-methylstyrene)- or poly(indene)-based polymer blocks (b), in an one-pot step by an inexpensive and simple method, neither using an expensive compound such as 1,1-diphenylethylene nor through any complicated production operation, and to provide the isobutylene-based block copolymer excellent in gas permeability, heat resistance and adhesivity. <P>SOLUTION: The isobutylene-based block copolymer includes (a) isobutylene-based polymer blocks and (b) polymer blocks based on compound(s) selected from at least one of compounds consisting of α-methylstyrene, p-methylstyrene and indene.
