<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a storage device that is equipped with means capable of detecting the presence or absence of tampering in the case of reproduction, even when header information and digital image data output from a monitoring camera are tampered before they are input into the storage device or while they are recorded and stored in the storage device. <P>SOLUTION: On the side of a monitoring camera, a hash value is obtained from digital image data itself of each frame through the use of a hash function so that tampering detection data can be generated, and monitoring image data is transmitted together with an encrypted header. On the side of a storage device, the digital image data extracted from the monitoring image data is collated with the tampering detection data by obtaining a hash value by using the same hash function as the hash function used on side of the monitoring camera.
