The method involves guiding electrical power to discharge lamp (11) through supply conductors (9,10) of cable (2). The ignition operation of discharge lamp is de-energized using additional conductor (18) such as ignition conductor that is connected to near end of supply conductor (10). The voltage between supply conductor (10) and additional conductor is set as voltage drop (Uv), so that electrical power is fed to discharge lamp according to set voltage drop. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) electronic ballast power supply circuit for discharge lamp; and (2) electronic ballast.
