The infra-red (IR) light signal is transmitted by IR LEDs (12a-12d), and the IR light signal is detected by an IR light receiver of vehicle (10) while driving the IR LED. The exact position of IR LED along a path (16) is determined by capturing the vehicle attached marking elements (18a-18c) by a motion capture system (20), determining the position of the vehicle on basis of the detected marker elements, and assigning the time of driving of IR LED by the motion capture system captured position. A measuring system is calibrated by determining the exact position of IR LED.
