<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save energy and enable quick restart when producing high-pressure hydrogen through water electrolysis using a solid polymer electrolyte membrane, by exhausting high-pressure gas on the hydrogen side so as to reduce the pressure to ordinary pressure within a shorter period of time than in conventional methods. <P>SOLUTION: In a hydrogen production system, hydrogen gas is generated through water electrolysis in a hydrogen producing cell stack 10 to which pure water is supplied by a pump 13 from a tank 14 and electric power is supplied from a power source 21. The hydrogen gas is then sent to a tank 24. During electrolysis operation, the oxygen side is kept under ordinary pressure. When power supply to the hydrogen producing cell stack 10 is suspended, the suspension time is measured, and when the suspension time reaches a prescribed time, a controller C opens a solenoid valve 50 so as to exhaust gas in the hydrogen gas side outside the system through a branch pipe 51. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
