PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turbine component including cooling features and a method for manufacturing the turbine component.

SOLUTION: The present disclosure is directed to the use and manufacture of the cooling features within the component (54) used in a hot gas path such as within a turbine (10). In one embodiment, channels (110) are formed (56) within an external surface (102) of the component (54) and filled (60) with a removable material (120). The external surface (102) and channels (110) may then be coated with one or more layers such as a structural layer (130) and/or top coating (134). The removable material (120) may then be removed (68) to leave the channels (110) free of the removable material (120).
