[Problem] To provide a surveying instrument capable of automatically directing a collimation telescope at a reflection prism immediately at the time of measurement. [Solution] A prism device is provided with a GPS receiver (58), an atmospheric pressure sensor (60), an atmospheric temperature sensor (32), and a transmitting/receiving unit (54) which communicates with a surveying instrument, and the surveying instrument is provided with a GPS receiver (28) and a transmitting/receiving unit (24) which communicates with the prism device. A control means (26) of the surveying instrument calculates, from the position of the prism device and the position of the surveying instrument which are obtained from the GPS receivers, the azimuth of the prism device viewed from the surveying instrument and the distance therebetween, and calculates, from the distance therebetween, an atmospheric pressure at the position of the prism device, and an atmospheric pressure at the position of the surveying instrument, the elevation angle of the prism device viewed from the surveying instrument, and gives a rotation instruction to a horizontal driving unit (16) and a vertical driving unit (18) such that a collimation telescope is directed at the prism device. |
