The present invention discloses an input device and a contact position detecting method thereof. The input device includes a touch panel unit for outputting a measurement value depending on a contact position of a contact object; and a contact position detecting unit for generating a raw frame on the basis of the measurement value, generating at least one cluster on the basis of a cell having the maximum value from the raw frame, performing a clustering operation to generate the at least one cluster by dividing a value of a duplicate cell into each cluster from the plurality of clusters according to values of cells adjacent to the duplicate cell if the duplicate cell is concurrently in the plurality of clusters, and calculating the coordinates of the contact position with respect to each of the at least one cluster.
